Would you and your students like to participate in a county-wide tree planting project with tree-related lessons that connect to science and literacy standards?

Our goal is to make this project accessible for your school community. We are willing to work together to meet your needs while planting trees throughout Erie County.

Flexible Ways to Participate

  1. One-time, school-wide virtual lesson that will teach students how to plant and care for a tree or trees on school property and the importance of tree planting in our community.

  2. In-person, outdoor tree planting demonstration on your school property. This could include a small group of 3-5 students, if possible. We will have the ability to live stream the demonstration into your classroom virtually.

  3. Ongoing, virtual lessons can be offered to classroom teachers, garden or science clubs that will expand on tree topics.

    • Sample topics:

      • Types of trees

      • Parts of trees

      • Tree products

      • Economic values

      • Environmental benefits

      • Habitats

  4. Take-home, potted seedlings with access to instructional videos. Permission and commitment from families is recommended to take home a tree or trees to plant and care for.
